DEVELOPMENT EDITING (DE)

When you have commissioned your material, let NPM's development editors bring in your manuscript, enabling your commissioning editors to commission!

Our DE service will ensure your authors are instructed on matters of style, illustration submission, permissions and deadlines. Crucially, the manuscript will be checked, ensuring all material meets your specification; any material not meeting the specification will be brought to your attention enabling production costs to be kept to a minimum. Our development editors ensure good communication is continuous between authors and you, our client.

Copy-editing

NPM's experienced copy-editors provide a service across a variety of formats ensuring the relevant level of intervention, including the use of either UK or US English in line with publisher preference.

We are able to provide guidance to those venturing into publishing for the first time while also collaborating effectively with those authors who are more experienced.

We provide the usual copy-editing tasks of checking heading structure, querying unclear/contentious material and correcting grammar and spelling. Depending on the subject matter we are also able to ensure, for example, accurate representation of scientific/mathematical material in consultation with the client and author, rephrasing material and checking references where desired.

Our well-trained and experienced team all shares the company's commitment to high-quality production values. We are accustomed to liaising with authors and/ or editors to resolve queries and keep them informed of progress. Through this process we establish and maintain a close positive working relationship.

We understand the priorities of authors/editors and are proactive in terms of working flexibly with each individual. Whenever the schedule permits, we will incorporate author changes arising from queries before the manuscript/files are delivered to the typesetter.
